How can I get out of state tuition waived at Ole Miss?
So, I have heard from several people that Ole Miss will waive out of state tuition, but i cant find out how. Any information at all on receiving in state tuition from the University of Mississippi would be great!
I live in Texas, am very involved in school and the community, and make pretty good grades =)
The University of Mississippi has one scholarship program that covers the student for the difference in out-of-state tuition:
From their financial aid website:
"Out-of-State Scholarships
Robert D. Oesterling Out-of-state Tuition Scholarship
For graduate and undergraduate students who do not meet the requirements for Mississippi residency.
Required: 3.0 GPA for undergraduate students, 3.2 GPA for graduate students
Scholarship covers the out-of-state portion of tuition. Students should reapply each year."
Out-of-state tuition is also waived for members of the US military who are stationed in Mississippi on extended active duty (and their dependents).
Similarly, a waiver applies for any child whose parents are faculty members at any state university in the US. (but not adjunct faculty)
Children of UM alumni have up to $750 in out-of-state tuition waived each semester.
Students who attend the University of Mississippi as participants in the Academic Common Market program - which allows residents of certain nearby states to attend UM IF they are majoring in a program of study that is not available in their home state - have their out-of-state tuition waived, too.
Mississippi State has other programs that reward students with high ACT scores and/or superlative high school GPAs, but the University of Mississippi does not offer a similar program.
That's all I could find for you - I hope it helps. Good luck!
